Swords & Sails is an epic game of strategy, conquest, diplomacy and intrigue about leading your armies and fleets through medieval Europe in 1000 AD. Take on the role of one of the major political factions; the Byzantine Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, the Fatimid Caliphate, the Kievan Rus' Empire, the North Sea Empire, the Kingdom of France, or the Anglo Saxon Kingdom of England. Make alliances and win as a team or win individually Using military might, political intrigue, and diplomatic savvy.

Swords&Sails: Day 10 report

After 10 Day of the campaign, we are only $115 short of 90% funded.  We will fund very soon now and start working on the stretch goals.  

Our first stretch goal is the leader cards.  The leader cards are an add on to the game which will give each player different specials based on having a special leader with given talents or capabilities.  There are 7 different leader cards, here is their descriptions:

Conqueror:     Your leader is very adept at conquering territories.  Bonuses are related to siege warfare which will allow this player to territory with more efficiency.

Architect:       Your leader is a great patron of architecture and inspires your whole empire to build great cities including city defenses.

Diplomat:       Your leader is an accomplished diplomat.  This will effect your capability to make deals with anyone, even if it means you need more time to make the deal.  When you siege other territories, the diplomatic skills can sway some of the populace to join you.

Admiral:         Your Leader was a great admiral and a nautical genius.  Your empire gains great advantages with any sea combat.

Charismatic:   Your lead is very charismatic, easily gaining followers and swaying your people toward your goals.  This will give your empire bonus when recruiting new troops, during morale rolls, and when defending your own territory.

Commander:   Your leader is a great battlefield commander, given your empire great tactical advantages during combat.

Spy-Master:     Your leader is a great spy-master and employs a network of in everyones empires.  This gives your empire additional espionage and intrigue capabilities.

Swords&Sails: Over 87% Funded

We are now sitting at over 87%.  So thank you everyone for backing the project as we are very close to funding now.  

There has been some questions on Solo play, and we will be including Optional Solo Play rules into the Rulebook.  Note, these rules are not currently in the down-loadable rules,  as more play testing is needed on faction setups.  Even with the optional Solo rules, I will not be changing the number of players from 2-7 to 1-7 as the main game design is for multiple players to compete to win.  In solo play, you will be playing against time and presets for the other player factions and is more of a challenge against yourself, however all the game mechanics will be in play.

Hello everyone,

We have passed 78% funding and only need a measly 22% to fund and spring forward into the stretch goals.  The last couple of days have been slightly more challenging, mostly due to the Easter Holiday, however we are holding our own and slowly gaining.  Spread the word and share the project and see if we can improve our growth rate as we are entering the traditional slow down period of most Kickstarter campaigns.  Let's buck the trend.   

To help wet the appetite of everyone I have a video link which was done by  group MEDIEVALISTS.NET which shows how political factions have changed over time in Europe.  Remember that as with most history, the exact boundaries depicted in the video may or may not be exact as i am sure some filling in had to be done to extract all this data and different historical references don't always match.  But the Videos is still pretty nice and a good piece of Eye Candy.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY9P0QSxlnI

Yes, we are getting there.   It seems by the strict definition of Day 2, we have passed the stretch goal but since we are closing in on it, I will count day 2 ending when I goto bed instead of the exact 48 hours from launch.  So there is still time to unlock this stretch goal and push onto the 100% funded in 3 days which also will be when I goto bed tomorrow.
