Take on the role of one of the major political factions; the Byzantine Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, the Fatimid Caliphate, the Kievan Rus' Empire, the North Sea Empire, the Kingdom of France, or the Anglo Saxon Kingdom of England. Swords&Sails: Surveys & Stuff
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 24, 2018 at 11:12:29 PM

Hello All,

Been working hard to get several things done.

First off if you have not completed your survey, please goto this web link:  https://swords-and-sails.backerkit.com.  If you need help with the survey or having any trouble, please contact me and let me know what your Kickstarter name is.  If you are a retailer, then please send me a message.

Next, I am working hard on getting all the final versions of all the content ready for the Print and Play version.   I should have that ready for everyone very soon, as soon as I complete the new minor player factions and have everything go through a few extra edits.

I have been working hard reviewing the game specs with the manufacturing companies, to make sure we have the best quality components possible for everyone.

I have received the proof for the large vinyl Map <see previous update> and have been working on getting a proof for a Neoprene (mousepad type) version.   I have received pricing and it may cost about $9 more and was wondering what everyone thought of upgrading since it may cost more.   If you want to upgrade and are willing to pay the $9 more please comment here.   I will use the responses here to help determine if its worth it.

Thank You.

Swords&Sails: Vinyl 4x3 ft Map proof
over 5 years ago – Sat, Jul 28, 2018 at 10:53:00 PM

I have the proof for the 4x3 ft Vinyl Map

This was produced by GamerMatz.   I am also still seeking an option for using the mouse pad material, but it may end up being a bit more expensive.

Still working hard on getting the PnP fully ready for everyone which is supposed to include all the Minor players, but the 3 additional Minors are taking a bit longer to get ready.   They will still be available for everyone but it looks like they will be an update once I get them fully ready in another month.   Also, I still have work to do to get the alternative language rules ready, so they will also be a later update, but will be available to everyone.

In other news We will be at Gen Con next week, if you will be there, sign up for the Swords & Sails events or try our other game events for Tali, the historic game knuckle bones played the Roman way.

Swords&Sails: And the Minor Player Faction is....
over 5 years ago – Mon, Jul 16, 2018 at 01:00:29 AM

And the Minor Player Faction is Unified Kingdom of Ireland.

Final Votes Results:

  • A unified Ireland under the High King of Ireland : 50.38% 67
  • The Khazar Khaganate : 39.85% 53
  • The Bagratid Kingdom of Armenia : 9.77% 13

The Irish specials will be fortification, which requires an additional +2 casualty points for sieging any Irish city (+2 per city minor city and +5 per major).  Reduced city costs of 3/5 costs same as England and HRE.  HI units represent the Gallowglass class of soldiers which fight at an advantage (same as North Sea Empire HI class but without the moral bonus).  And Light infantry cost 20 instead of 30.

Due to the fact that the far eastern map has a lack of Minor factions compared to the Western map, I will be looking for a way to give everyone at least a print-n-play versions of the Khazar Khaganate and the Kingdom of Armenia sometime in the future (another reason to stay on the email news letter).

On other fronts, I have been working hard on getting the final versions of all the components and have completed a revised cover with additional touches by Richard Luschek.  Notices the added color depth and finished shields.

Now here is a finalized map with the added colored Minor players for Poland, Hungary and Qurtuba.  The minor players Leon, Bulgaria, and Ireland will not be colored here as when they are not in play as minors, they will be treated as any other neutral.  The larger minors have special status for the Political Intrigue cards since they are so large.

The rest of the Print-n-Play assets should be ready in the next few weeks, as all assets go to production for manufacturing as well.

Swords&Sails: 6th Minor Faction & other Updates
over 5 years ago – Sat, Jul 07, 2018 at 01:24:29 AM

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a good July 4th Holiday (if your in the US) and I wanted to let everyone know the current state of things.

The survey for which additional Minor Player will be closing next week (Friday) as I need to finalize the faction to be included in the Print-n-Play material and have the art files ready for production.  If you have not yet voted here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CGWRKLR

At the moment we have 52.78% (57 votes) for a Unified Kingdom of Ireland under the High King Máel Sechnaill mac Domnaill :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Máel_Sechnaill_mac_Domnaill

With 37.04% (40 votes) for The Khazar Khaganate : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khazars

And 10.19% (11 votes) for The Bagratid Kingdom of Armenia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagratid_Armenia

The total number of votes is only 108 out of our 270 backers so the results can change if you all get out there and vote.

otherwise we are working hard on getting everything ready for the factory production and working to secure the final manufacturing contract, such that it meets my demanding quality.
